Jam Jar Berry Crisp

Cook time: 30 minutes


4 slightly heaping cups fresh blueberries and diced fresh strawberries

1/2 cup strawberry, blueberry or mixed berry preserves

1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Crisp Topping:

3/4 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup chopped California walnuts

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

3 tablespoons butter

3 tablespoons flour


Preheat oven to  375°F. Stir together berries, preserves, cornstarch and lemon juice in a large bowl. Spoon equal amount into 8 (1-cup) canning jars or baking dishes and press fruit down lightly. Mix all topping ingredients in a medium bowl with a fork or your fingers until crumbly and sprinkle over fruit, filling the jars. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Serve warm, at room temperature or chilled.
